Taxonomy
Scyliorhinus luypaertsi was named by Halter (1995). Its type specimen is IRSNB P 6350, a tooth, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Quarry E.N.C.I., base of Valkenburg Chalk (Lichtenberg Horizon), which is in a Maastrichtian carbonate chalk in the Maastricht Formation of the Netherlands.
