Taxonomy
Spirillinida was named by Hohenegger and Piller (1975). It is extant. It was considered monophyletic by Pawlowski et al. (2013).

It was assigned to Foraminiferida by Carignano (2012); and to Tubothalamea by Pawlowski et al. (2013).
