Taxonomy
Proetus astringens was named by Owens (1973). Its type specimen is NMW 71.6G.494 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Ditch on S side of Worcester-Hereford road (A 4103), near Storridge, which is in a Gorstian offshore siltstone in the Elton Formation of the United Kingdom.
