Allacerops was named by Wood (1932). It is not extant.
It was synonymized subjectively with Eggysodon by Prothero and Schoch (1989), de Bonis and Brunet (1995).
It was assigned to Hyracodontidae by Radinsky (1966), Carroll (1988), Wang and Qiu (2004); to Eggysodontinae by Bai and Wang (2012); and to Eggysodontidae by Wang et al. (2016).
