Taxonomy
Pecten (Pecten) coalingaensis was named by Arnold (1906) [Pecten (Pecten) coalingaensis first appears in this reference (Anderson 1905), but attributed to Arnold's forthcoming publication. Arnold's description appears in Arnold 1906.].

It was recombined as Pecten coalingensis by Nomland (1917); it was recombined as Pecten (Janira) bellus coalingaensis by Grant and IV and Gale (1931); it was recombined as Oppenheimopecten coalingaensis by Moore (1984).
