Paramylodon was named by Brown (1903). It is not extant.
It was synonymized subjectively with Mylodon by Stock (1914), Hay (1930); it was synonymized subjectively with Glossotherium by Simpson (1945), Hofstetter (1952), Kurten and Anderson (1980), Stucky and McKenna (1993).
It was assigned to Mylodontidae by Brown (1903), McDonald (1995), McKenna and Bell (1997); to Mylodontinae by Gaudin (1995), Varela et al. (2019); and to Mylodontini by Boscaini et al. (2019).
It was synonymized subjectively with Mylodon by Stock (1914), Hay (1930); it was synonymized subjectively with Glossotherium by Simpson (1945), Hofstetter (1952), Kurten and Anderson (1980), Stucky and McKenna (1993).
It was assigned to Mylodontidae by Brown (1903), McDonald (1995), McKenna and Bell (1997); to Mylodontinae by Gaudin (1995), Varela et al. (2019); and to Mylodontini by Boscaini et al. (2019).
