Taxonomy
Ammonites pygmaeus was named by d'Orbigny (1846). Its type specimen is Caen BJ.IV-B.50 and is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Nannolytoceras pygmaeum by Buckman (1905), Galácz and Kassai (2012).
