Aepinacodon deflectus
Taxonomy
Hyopotamus deflectus was named by Marsh (1890). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Peanut Peak, which is in a Chadronian terrestrial horizon in the Chadron Formation of South Dakota.
It was recombined as Ancodon deflectus by Marsh (1894); it was synonymized subjectively with Ancodon americanus by Scott (1894), Hay (1902), Matthew (1909); it was recombined as Aepinacodon deflectus by Troxell (1921), Hay (1930), Macdonald (1956), Russell (1978), Kron and Manning (1998).
