Taxonomy
Hystrix angressi was named by Frenkel (1971). Its type specimen is GA-108, a maxilla (pair of dentate maxillaries), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Guela Cave, which is in a Pleistocene cave horizon in Israel.
