Palaeocorystes isericus was named by Fric and Kafka (1887).
It was recombined as Necrocarcinus isericus by Schweitzer et al. (2010); it was recombined as Orithopsis isericus by Karasawa et al. (2014) and Schweitzer et al. (2016).
