Dicranopeltis eretes was named by Holloway (2021) [= 1929 Dicranopeltis arkansana Van Ingen, 1901 – Thomas, p. 15, pl. 1, figs 15, 16 (non Arges arkansanus Van Ingen, 1901).]. Its type specimen is USNM 299084, a cephalon/head, and it is a 3D body fossil.
