Taxonomy
Cryphaeus australis tuberculatus was named by Kozlowski (1923) [= 1965 Metacryphaeus caffer Braniša; p. 106, pl. 21, fig. 14. = 1965 Metacryphaeus caffer var. n Braniša; p. 106, pl. 21, fig. 16.].

It was recombined as Metacryphaeus tuberculatus by Lieberman et al. (1991), Lieberman (1993), Meira et al. (2016).
