Taxonomy
Protopresbynileus divergens was named by Fortey et al. (2024). Its type specimen is LACMIP 42370.24, a cephalon/head (cranidium), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is LACMIP loc. 42370, Badger Flat, Inyo Mountains, which is in a Blackhillsian deep-water shale/limestone in the Al Rose Formation of California.
