Echimonocolpites semiperspinosum was named by Christopher and Prowell (2010). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is Slide C-15@1880’ (1); coordinates 8.3 x 142.3; Fig. 13U–W, a microspore, and it is a 3D body fossil.

Prowell 2010A species of Echimonocolpites with dimensions of 26–35 µm by 17–25 µm, and with randomly distributed spines 2–3 µm in length and 1–2 µm in basal diameter; spines thin gradually toward their distal extremity before tapering dramatically to form hair-like distal projections on conical bases.
