Hesperornis montanus
Taxonomy
Hesperornis montana was named by Shufeldt (1915). Its type specimen is USNM 8199, a set of vertebrae (isolated dorsal vertebrae), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is One Mile Above the Mouth of Dog Creek, which is in a Campanian marine sandstone in the Claggett Formation of Montana.
