Ammonites holandrei was named by d'Orbigny (1845). Its type specimen is MNHN F R.1483 and is a 3D body fossil.
It was recombined as Stephanoceras (Coeloceras) hollandrei by Rothpletz (1892); it was recombined as Dactylioceras holandrei by Enay et al. (1994).
