Dianops kaufmannii was named by Basse and Lemke (2023) [= ? pt 1926 Phacops (Dianops) anophthalmus – Richter & Richter: 196 (“Apricke” site only).

= v pt 2020 Dianops anophthalmus – Basse & Lemke: Tab. 1 (Apricke D site only).]. Its type specimen is SMF 57498, a cephalon/head, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Oese section, topmost 35 cm, which is in a Famennian carbonate limestone in the Wocklum Limestone Formation of Germany.
