Taxonomy
Otarion (Otarion) akkae was named by Alberti (1969). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Lower Tafilalt Limestone, Tafilalt Area, SE Morocco, which is in a Pragian marine limestone in the Tafilalt Limestone Formation of Morocco.

It was recombined as Cyphaspis akkae by Bault et al. (2021).
