Taxonomy
Leptograptus ascendens was named by Elles and Wood (1903). Its type specimen is BGS GSE 5501, 5502 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Hawkwood Burn, near Abington Water, which is in a Caradoc/Harnagian marine shale in the Glenkiln Shale Formation of the United Kingdom.
