Taxonomy
Orthis (Plectorthis) platystrophoides was named by Chapman (1911). Its type specimen is NMV P148697 and is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Roanella platystrophoides by Brock and Talent (1999); it was misspelled as Roanella platystrophioides by Patterson (2004).
