Taxonomy
Discinisca insularis was named by Muir-Wood (1939). Its type specimen is BMNH B.49611, a valve, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Alum Bay, which is in a Ypresian carbonate limestone in the London Clay Formation of the United Kingdom.
