Mimella brevis was named by Rukavishnikova (1956). Its type specimen is IGNA 1369 ⁄ 1 and is a 3D body fossil.
It was recombined as Hebertella brevis by Popov and Nikitin (2000); it was recombined as Weberorthis brevis by Popov and Cocks (2006).
