Taxonomy
Ancientia arborea was named by Schallreuter (1981). Its type specimen is GPIMH 243t and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Erratic boulder 1B12, which is in a Viru carbonate limestone in the Brick Limestone Formation of Germany.
