Taxonomy

Faveoloolithidae was named by Zhao and Ding (1976). It is not extant. It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type is Faveoloolithus.

It was assigned to Dinosauria by Zhao (1994); and to Sauropoda by Mikhailov et al. (1994), Mikhailov (1997), Mikhailov (2000).

Synonyms

Sphaerovum was named by Mones (1980). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type is Sphaerovum erbeni.

It was considered a nomen dubium by Fernández (2016).

It was assigned to Titanosauridae by Mones (1980), Faccio (1994); to Megaloolithidae by Cousin (2002); and to Faveoloolithidae by Casadío et al. (2002), de Valais et al. (2003), Simón (2006).
Sphaerovum erbeni was named by Mones (1980). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is MNHN-DP 714, an egg, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is estancia Blanco, Tala de Miguelete Arroyo, which is in a Maastrichtian terrestrial horizon in the Asencio Formation of Uruguay. It is the type species of Sphaerovum.

It was considered a nomen dubium by Grellet-Tinner et al. (2012), Fernández (2013), Fernández (2016).
