Dicraeosaurinae was named by Janensch (1929). It is not extant. Its type is Dicraeosaurus.
It was assigned to Titanosauridae by Romer (1956); to Atlantosauridae by Steel (1970), Swinton (1970), Nowinski (1971); to Cetiosauridae by Kurzanov and Bannikov (1983); and to Diplodocidae by McIntosh (1990), McIntosh (1990), Russell (1996), McIntosh (1997), Salgado (1999), Maryanska (2000).
