Trigonioididae was named by Cox (1952) [m. kosnik taxon no: 5124]. It is not extant.
It was considered an invalid subgroup of Bivalvia by Bouchet et al. (2010).
It was assigned to Unionoida by Hayami (1975); to Trigoniacea by Newell (1965), Vokes (1980); to Pseudocardinioidea by Nevesskaja (2009); and to Trigonioidoidea by Carter et al. (2011).
It was considered an invalid subgroup of Bivalvia by Bouchet et al. (2010).
