Taxonomy
Aulophyseter morricei was named by Kellogg (1927). Its type specimen is USNM 11313, a skull, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Sharktooth Hill, which is in a Langhian shoreface siltstone in the Temblor Formation of California.
