Taxonomy
Edmontonia was named by Sternberg (1928). It is the type genus of Edmontoniidae. It was considered monophyletic by Vickaryous et al. (2004).
It was synonymized subjectively with Panoplosaurus by Coombs (1978), Coombs (1978), Dodson (1983), Tumanova (1987), Jasinski et al. (2011).
