Gojirasaurus was named by Carpenter (1997). It is not extant. Its type is Gojirasaurus quayi.
It was assigned to Coelophysidae by Carpenter (1997), Ezcurra and Novas (2007); and to Coelophysoidea by Rauhut (2003), Tykoski and Rowe (2004), Carrano and Sampson (2004), Carrano et al. (2005), Nesbitt et al. (2007).
