Streptospondylus major was named by Owen (1842). It is a 3D body fossil.
It was synonymized subjectively with Iguanodon bernissartensis by Lydekker (1888), Newton (1889), Van Den Broeck (1900); it was considered a nomen dubium by Mantell (1851); it was recombined as Iguanodon major by Delair (1966), Naish and Martill (2008).
