Taxonomy

Amblydactylus was named by Sternberg (1932). It is considered to be a form taxon.

It was assigned to Eubrontidae by Sternberg (1932); to Ornithischia by Kuhn (1958), Haubold (1974); to Iguanodontia by Lockley et al. (2003); to Ornithopoda by Kuhn (1963), Lockley (1992), Romero Molina et al. (2003), Gangloff et al. (2004); to Hadrosauridae by Currie and Sarjeant (1979), Weems (2004); to Iguanodontidae by Haubold (1971), Lockley et al. (2009); to Iguanodontopodidae by Lockley et al. (2014); and to Iguanodontipodidae by Tsukiji et al. (2019).

Synonyms

Amblydactylus gethingi was named by Sternberg (1932). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is NMC 8555, a footprint, and it is a trace fossil. Its type locality is 0.25 miles upstream from Gething's mine, Peace River Canyon, which is in an Albian fine channel fill sandstone/claystone in the Gething Formation of Canada.

It was considered a nomen dubium by Romilio and Salisbury (2014); it was considered a nomen dubium by Díaz-Martínez et al. (2015).

Diagnosis

Y. Tsukiji et al. 2019	Bipedal, with three functional pedal digits. The outer contours of digits II and IV diverge at low angle from the longitudinal axis of the ichnite. A distinct posterior impression is produced by a metatarsal-phalangeal pad. Interdigital webs link the proximal portions of the fleshy digital pads; the digits end in blunt claws or pointed hooves. The ichnite is almost as wide as, or wider than, it is long.
