Ovaloolithus chinkangkouensis
Taxonomy
Oolithes chinkangkouensis was named by Chao and Chiang (1974). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is IVPP ?V732, an egg, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Hunglanfu, Laiyang, which is in a Campanian terrestrial horizon in the Jingangkou Formation of China. It is the type species of Ovaloolithus.
It was misspelled as Oolithes chingkangkouensis by Krassilov et al. (1992); it was recombined as Ovaloolithus chinkangkouensis by Zhao (1979), Zhao et al. (1991), Mikhailov (2000), Zhou and Feng (2002), Liang et al. (2009), Zhang and Wang (2010), Wang et al. (2012), Zhao et al. (2013), Wang et al. (2016) and Zhang et al. (2017).
It was misspelled as Oolithes chingkangkouensis by Krassilov et al. (1992); it was recombined as Ovaloolithus chinkangkouensis by Zhao (1979), Zhao et al. (1991), Mikhailov (2000), Zhou and Feng (2002), Liang et al. (2009), Zhang and Wang (2010), Wang et al. (2012), Zhao et al. (2013), Wang et al. (2016) and Zhang et al. (2017).
