Taxonomy
Oolithes laminadermus was named by Young (1954). It is considered to be a form taxon. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Ovaloolithus laminadermus by Zhao (1979), Zhao et al. (1991), Mikhailov (2000), Zhang and Wang (2010), Wang et al. (2012), Zhao et al. (2013) and Zhang et al. (2017).
