Amberleyacea was named by Wenz (1938) [ranked by Knight, Cox, Batten & Yochelson 1960 (ref# 10229)].
It was synonymized subjectively with Eucycloidea by Conti and Monari (2001); it was corrected as Amberleyoidea by Tong and Erwin (2001), Bouchet et al. (2005).
It was assigned to Archaeogastropoda by Knight et al. (1960); and to Vetigastropoda by Tong and Erwin (2001), Bouchet et al. (2005).
