Taxonomy
Xiphotheca was named by De Wever (1979) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Carn].

It was synonymized subjectively with Xiphothecaella by Kozur et al. (2007), O'Dogherty et al. (2009).

It was assigned to Ruesticyrtiidae by De Wever et al. (2001); and to Nassellaria by Sepkoski (2002).
