Carinaropsis patelliformis was named by Hall (1847). It is not extant.

It was recombined as Archinacellopsis patelliformis by Horný (1963), Wahlman (1992); it was recombined as Archinacella patelliformis by Ulrich and Scofield (1897), Branson (1909), Foerste (1914), Wagner (2023).
