Naticopsis (Naticopsis) planifrons was named by Linsley (1968) [Naticopsis (Naticopsis) planifrons Linsley 1968]. It is not extant. Its type locality is Brunner Quarry, Unit 15, 1ΒΌ miles northwest of Amherstburg, which is in an Eifelian carbonate limestone in the Lucas Formation of Canada.
It was recombined as Naticopsis planifrons by Wagner (2023).
