Platyceras paralium was named by White and Whitfield (1862). It is not extant.

It was recombined as Capulus paralius by Weller (1898), Weller (1901); it was corrected as Platyceras paralius by Weller (1909); it was recombined as Orthonychia paralium by Yochelson and Saunders (1967).
