Clisospira excavata was named by Perner (1903) [Clisospira excavata Barrande in Perner 1903]. It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Epiptychia excavata by Perner (1907); it was recombined as Pseudophorus excavata by Wagner (2023).
