Taxonomy
Holopea wellingtonensis was named by Etheridge (1898). It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Cyclonema wellingtonensis by Farrell (1992); it was recombined as Australonema wellingtonensis by Tassell (1980), Frýda and Bandel (1997), Wagner (2023).
