Taxonomy
Alcithoe (Alcithoe) amundseni was named by Stilwell and Zinsmeister (1992) [TYPE LOCALITY: IPS loc. 453, Seymour Island, Antarctic Peninsula]. Its type specimen is USNM 441788, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is IPS 453, Seymour Island, which is in a Bartonian coastal sandstone in the La Meseta Formation of Antarctica.
