Australonema was named by Tassell (1980) [Sepkoski's age data: S Wenl-l D Sieg-l Sepkoski's reference number: 1199,1201]. It is not extant. Its type is Cyclonema australis.
It was assigned to Gyronematinae by Tassell (1980); to Archaeogastropoda by Sepkoski (2002); and to Oriostomatidae by Wagner (2023).
