Pecten hericius was named by Gould (1850) [DISTRIBUTION: Pleistocene-Recent; Eastern Pacific.]. It is extant. Its type specimen is USNM 5955, a shell.

Pecten (Chlamys) lawsoni was named by Arnold (1906). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is CAS loc. 76, Waldorf Asphalt Mine, which is in a Pliocene marine horizon in California.
