Migmaster was named by Blake et al. (2006). Its type is Migmaster angularis. It is the type genus of Migmasteridae. It was considered monophyletic by Gale (2011).

It was assigned to Trichasteropsiidae by Blake et al. (2006); and to Migmasteridae by Gale (2011).
