| J. W. Busanus and R. D. Hoare 1991 | Leptodesma (Leptodesma) with straight hinge- line longer than general length of shell body, bordered by pro- nounced ridge posteriorly; posterior margin with deep concavity ventral to hingeline; ventral margin with a slight concavity, formed by a shallow sulcus radiating from umbonal area, near anterior margin; anterior lobe compressed; umbonal shoulder extends posteriorly intersecting posterior margin below concave area; surface ornamented with distinct, widely spaced, growth lamellae. | |
| R. D. Hoare 1993 | Leptodesma (Leptodesma) with a relatively coarse, comarginally wrinkled, valve surface with closely spaced, fine lirae; posterior wing incomplete; beak rises well above hingeline, located about one-fourth length posterior to anterior margin; broad, distinct sulcus separates anterior auricle from body forming a concave emargination in ventral margin; posterior wing sulcate; umbonal slope diverges from hingeline at angle of 32˚. |
