Taxonomy
Cardium isocardia was named by Linnaeus (1758) [DISTRIBUTION: circum-Caribbean.]. It is extant. It is the type species of Trachycardium, Trachycardium (Trachycardium).

It was recombined as Trachycardium isocardia by Vidal (1999); it was recombined as Trachycardium (Trachycardium) isocardia by Woodring (1982), Hendy et al. (2015).
