It was assigned to Myliobatoidea by Kumar and Loyal (1987); to Dasyatoidea by Cappetta (1984) and Cappetta (1987); to Rajiformes by Underwood (2006); to Myliobatiformes by Tabuce et al. (2005), Cicimurri and Knight (2009) and Underwood and Schlogl (2013); and to Myliobatoidei by Nelson et al. (2016) and Ebersole et al. (2019).
