It was assigned to Pecora by Cook (1934); to Hypertraguloidea by Scott (1940); to Ruminantia by Thurmond and Jones (1981); to Tylopoda by Carroll (1988); to Tylopoda by Webb et al. (2003); to Artiodactyla by Marsh (1891), Hulbert and Whitmore (2006), Prothero and Ludtke (2007); and to Ruminantiamorpha by Spaulding et al. (2009).
