Semipallium was named by Lamy (1928) [Sepkoski's age data: T Mi-m R]. It is extant. Its type is Pecten trigris.
It was assigned to Pectinidae by Lamprell and Whitehead (1992); to Pterioida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Chlamydinae by Spencer et al. (2004).
