Taxonomy
Donax costata was named by Zenker (1833). It is the type species of Costatoria.

It was recombined as Myophoria costata by Lepsius (1878), Frech (1912) and Ogilvie Gordon (1927); it was recombined as Myophoria (Costatoria) costata by Chen (1982); it was recombined as Costatoria costata by Neri and Posenato (1985).
